In 1938-39 the U.S. Post Office Department issued the Presidential Series of regular stamps. These "Prexies," depicting every American President from Washington to Coolidge, became a classic almost immediately. The 1938-39 Prexies inspired the up-to-date set of United States Presidents stamps issued by the Marshall Islands Postal Service on January 20, 2005, Inauguration Day. Maintaining historic continuity with the earlier stamps that were used at U.S. Post Offices in the Marshall Islands, these stamps are visually similar to the original U.S. Prexies. But now, every U.S. President from George Washington to George W. Bush appears on his own stamp. The Mint Sheet has 45 stamps -- one for each President, plus 60¢ and $1 White House Stamps. The denominations match the sequence of each man's presidency. Mint Sheets are available from the Stamp and Philatelic Center of the Marshall Islands, but quantities are limited.
