Sylvia Walker
American 1942 -

A resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Sylvia L. Walker studied at the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles, California, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. Walker expresses herself through a variety of media, including watercolor, pencil, ink and acrylic on canvas. A celebrated illustrator of children's books, Walker has worked with such high-profile publishers as Just Us Books, Dover Publications, Scholastic Harper Collins, Western Publishing and Penguin Putnam Group (USA). Today her works hang in the private collections of Ed McMahon, actress Vanessa Bell Calloway and journalist Connie Chung, to name a few. Sylvia created the original work for Fleetwood's First Day Cover for the 1957 Little Rock Nine stamp of the 2005 Milestones in the Civil Rights Movement set.
