Vadim Gorbatov
Russian 1940 -

Born in Moscow in 1940, Vadim Gorbatov developed a fascination with art as a child, and found particular interest in animal drawing. Raised in the suburbs of Moscow, Gorbatov was surrounded by picturesque landscapes that inspired his creativity.

Gorbatov graduated from art school in 1959 and continued his studies at the Moscow Institute of Industrial Art. He earned a master's degree in art criticism and later taught at the Institute. Traveling with zoologists on nature expeditions, Gorbatov gained experience in wildlife art and his works have appeared in a variety of books including poetry, fiction, children's books, scientific literature and zoology textbooks, as well as posters promoting wildlife conservation.

Gorbatov's works are displayed in museums in Moscow and in private collections in West Germany, Poland and the United States.
