Pal Varga Hungarian 1937 -
Born in 1937, artist Pal Varga was educated in Budapest, where he began creating art work for exhibitions, prospectuses and advertisements. Although Varga occasionally creates
advertisements, book jackets and illustrations for educational books, he works primarily in stamp design. "I find the variety of designing stamps most attractive," says Varga. "Every new project
brings a different world to life -- railways, butterflies, space, waterfowl -- each appears on the stamp as a miniature world." Varga has designed stamps for the Hungarian Post since 1965,
is a three-time recipient of Hungary's "Most Beautiful Stamp of the Year" award and has also designed postal issues for Guinea-Bissau, Mongolia, Lebanon and Kuwait. He was commissioned by
Unicover to design First Day Cover art for History of the Railways and Waterfowl. |
