Dick Davis
British 1945 -

Dick Davis is best-known for his beautiful stamp designs for Great Britain celebrating the 900th Anniversary of the Domesday Book. This historic document records the taking of the great survey of King William I's domain in the year 1086.

To complement these stamps, Davis created stunning First Day Cover cachets showing glimpses of everyday life in 11th-century England. Each cachet is painted in the "Medieval" style -- a technique that is rich in detail and color, but depicts "flat" images with little depth.
