Frank Beck
Australian 1916 -

Frank Beck was born in Tuena, New South Wales, but lived most of his life in Sydney. A world traveler, he has worked as an illustrator in Sydney, London, New York, Paris and Damascus. Beck used his talents to help budding artists as well, teaching drawing at East Sydney Technical College and the Fine Arts Academy in Damascus. His works have been exhibited in Sydney, Adelaide, and Damascus, and many of his drawings and paintings are displayed in collections in Australia, the United States, Mexico, and Brazil. In 1965, Beck was invited by the Bulgarian Artists Union to visit their country and illustrate that beautiful region. In 1970, his drawings of the Swan Hill Folk Museum in Victoria were presented to Her Majesty the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. These beautiful works have become part of the Royal Collection. Beck was commissioned by the Syrian government in 1972 to paint a series of murals of the building of the Euphrates Dam. A prolific artist, Beck strives to capture the beauty of the world around him in his drawings and paintings.
