 | Cheng Shifa
Chinese 1921 - 2007 Born in 1921 in Songjiang County of Shanghai Municipality, Cheng Shifa graduated from
the Traditional Chinese Painting Department of the Shanghai Fine Art School in 1941 and held his first exhibition only a year later. He has served on the committee of the Institute of Chinese
Paintings and is a member of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. Cheng is also Deputy Director of the Painting and Calligraphy & Seal Cutting House of Xiling. A student of
traditional Chinese painting and illustration techniques, Cheng was awarded with the prestigious Silver Award of Decorative Illustration in Leipzig in 1959 for his works in the Chinese classic,
The Scholars. Cheng is a master painter in the Shanghai Academy of Chinese Paintings and his works are displayed in museums in China and abroad. He has exhibited in the United States at the
Boston Art Museum and the Birmingham Art Museum. |
