(Mr.) Liu Danzhai Chinese 1931 - 1988 Liu Danzhai (1931-1988?) is a native of Wenzhou, Zhekiang Province,
and as a child, developed a talent for drawing. At age ten, his works were already being exhibited, thus building his reputation as a child prodigy. His unique style was influence by the Chinese
painting tradition -- the elegance of the figure paintings of the Han and Tang dynasties, the natural landscapes of the Song and Yuan dynasties, the simplicity and compactness of the great Ming
Dynasty and the gracefulness of the flower and bird paintings of the Qing Dynasty. Liu incorporated all these elements to create his own unique style of painting. Liu is on the painters board of
the People's Publishing House of Painting, Shanghai. He is also a faculty member of the Institute of Traditional Chinese Painting, as well as a member of the Association of Chinese Artists. |
