On August 28, 2013, the Marshall Islands Postal Service issues ten new stamps honoring the Civil Rights Movement in America and marking the 50th Anniversary of Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech. The Civil Rights Movement in America Issue pays tribute to ten of the most important milestones in America's Civil Rights Movement. Each of these milestones played a key role in advancing the cause of Civil Rights during the mid-20th century. In chronological order, they are: Executive Order 9981 (1948), the Brown v. Board of Education decision (1954), the Montgomery Bus Boycott (1955), the Little Rock Nine (1957), the Lunch Counter Sit-Ins (1960), the Freedom Riders (1961), Martin Luther King's "I Have A Dream" Speech (1963), the Civil Rights Act (1964), the Selma March (1965) and the Voting Rights Act (1965). The First Day of Issue of these stamps marks the exact 50th Anniversary of King's famous speech, delivered on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., on August 28, 1963.
