Each year, the list of endangered species gets longer as more wild animals teeter on the brink of extinction, falling victim to pollution, poaching and habitat destruction. But hope shines on the horizon. Mankind has at last awakened to the vital role each of these species plays in the environmental health of our planet. With international effort and cooperation, perhaps the term "endangered species" will itself pass into extinction, allowing future generations to share the world with all of Mother Nature's beautiful creatures. This special Endangered Species issue features the Giant Anteater, the Caracal, the Wild Yak, the Giant Panda, the Black-footed Ferret, the Black Rhinoceros, the Golden Lion Tamarin, the African Elephant, the Persian Fallow Deer, the Polar Bear, the Ocelot and the Gorilla.
