On November 12, 2007 the Marshall Islands Postal Service issues four new stamps featuring Santa Claus to celebrate the Christmas season. The stamps feature four different illustrations of Santa. The image of Santa Claus known and loved today by the young and the young-at-heart all around the world traces its roots to whimsical cartoons drawn by Thomas Nast for Harper's Weekly beginning in 1863. In turn, Nast based his renderings on the famous description given by Clement Clarke Moore in his poem A Visit From Saint Nicholas, written in 1822. In 1931, illustrator Haddon Sundblum began his iconic series of Santa Claus advertisements for the Coca-Cola Company, further defining Santa's image as a portly white-bearded fellow sporting a red suit with white-fur trim and red cap. Every year, Santa brings toys to delighted children everywhere, sliding down chimneys and enjoying the delicious milk and cookies left for him.
