On August 7, 2007, the Marshall Islands Postal Service issued 25 new stamps commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the United States Air Force. The U.S. Air Force traces its roots to the creation of the Aeronautical Division of the Signal Corps in 1907. Thirteen years later, the Army Reorganization Act created a unit of the Army called the Air Service, which became known as the Air Corps after 1926. During World War II, this unit became the Army Air Forces. Finally, in 1947 the United States Air Force was created as an independent branch of America's military. The stamp designs feature stunning original artwork depicting 25 amazing aircraft from the U.S. Air Force's storied history.
