On May 2, 2006, the Marshall Islands Postal Service issues the third installment of four stamps in its series of definitive stamps featuring hibiscus flowers. The first four stamps in the series were issued on March 15, 2005, and the stamps in the second four stamps were issued on July 13, 2005.

Native to tropical and subtropical regions like the Marshall Islands, the delightful hibiscus is one of nature's most beautiful flowers. Displayed in a myriad of colors including pink, red, white and yellow, hibiscus derives its name from the Greek word "hibiskos" for the common marsh mallow -- a tall perennial that originated in Europe. While some hibiscus blossoms have a slight fragrance, most have no scent at all. A favorite of gardeners, these lovely flowers attract butterflies and hummingbirds.

The 63¢ Magic Moments stamp pays the 2-ounce First Class mail rate to the United States, the 10¢ Butterscotch Sundae stamp pays the International postcard rate, the 84¢ Joanne Boulin stamp pays the International 10-ounce letter post rate, and the $4.05 Capsicum Red stamp pays the 1-pound airmail parcel post rate from the Marshall Islands to the United States.

Designed by noted artist Gigi Hoeller, these stamps feature four colorful hibiscus flowers in full bloom -- Magic Moments, Butterscotch Sundae, Joanne Boulin and Capsicum Red.
