R10(2) 10th Regular Series (Hibiscus)

On July 13, 2005, the Marshall Islands Postal Service issues the second installment of four stamps in its new series of definitive stamps featuring hibiscus flowers. The first four stamps in the series were issued earlier this year on March 15. Four more stamps will be released later this year.
Native to tropical and subtropical regions like the Marshall Islands, the delightful hibiscus is one of nature's most beautiful flowers. Displayed in a myriad of colors including pink, red, white and yellow, hibiscus derives its name from the Greek word "hibiskos" for the common marsh mallow -- a tall perennial that originated in Europe. While some hibiscus blossoms have a slight fragrance, most have no scent at all. A favorite of gardeners, these lovely flowers attract butterflies and hummingbirds.
Designed by noted artist Gigi Hoeller, these stamps feature four colorful hibiscus flowers in full bloom -- Margaret Okano, Cameo Queen, Madonna and Estrella Red.
