Bruce Weatherhead: Early Maryborough Post Office in Australia The Postal building in the artwork was replaced by a brick building in 1866. The "new" Maryborough Post Office is still in use today. It is the oldest post office known to survive in Queensland, and one of only three masonry post offices from the period before the amalgamation of the post and telegraph department in 1878.
