Colonel Prescott commanded the Patriot forces that fortified the heights in Charleston overlooking Boston. Although the British onslaught ultimately forced his men to retreat, he exhibited the prudence and courage throughout that he praised in his subordinates. He is perhaps best remembered for his statement, "You are all marksmen, now don't shoot until you see the white of their eyes."
