Basil Smith: R.A.F. Jaguar
The sleek Jaguar, an impressive spearhead of Britain's aerial defenses, is a supersonic aircraft well suited for the demands of modern combat. The plane was produced jointly by the British Aircraft Corporation and France's Dassault-Breguet Company. A very versatile craft, which can attain speeds of over a thousand miles per hour, the Jaguar is ready to penetrate enemy territory at high speed then carry out low level bombing missions against pinpoint targets. If called upon to perform such a mission, the Jaguar will pack a powerful wallop for the enemies of freedom. Five external weapon positions including cluster bombs, one-thousand pound retarded and free fall bombs as well as rockets and missiles stand ready to protect Britain. The remarkable plane is also equipped to perform photo reconnaissance for its homeland. Although these features are all noteworthy, perhaps Jaguar's most impressive feature is the highly sophisticated navigational and attack system. The Jaguar's pilot may feed information about his mission into the computer, and before his eyes on a display appears all the relevant information he needs to pinpoint an attack. The output shows him just where his target is and when he must release his powerful weapons for maximum results. This advanced aircraft has been guarding British skies since 1969, protecting the Sceptered Isle from foreign attack.
