Donald Moss: Louisiana World Exposition On May 12, 1984, the eyes of the world were focused on New Orleans, Louisiana, for the grand opening of the Louisiana World Exposition. The 184-day Exposition was held on an eighty-two-acre site along the banks of the Mississippi River where a network of waterways, fountains, and waterfalls reflected the theme of the Fair -- "The World of Rivers -- Fresh Water as a Source of Life." Spectacular exhibits and entertaining attractions from all over the world were featured at the Exposition which was dedicated to the resourceful use of the world's rivers. This artwork features a view of New Orleans from the water with a hot-air balloon drifting over the Exposition grounds.
