Stanley Paine: Beech Duke B60, HB-GER The Beech Duke is a very expensive aircraft. The 1980 model completely equipped to full airway standards had a price tag of one-half million dollars. The small plane seats five passengers and requires only one crew member. The Beech Duke has been described as an aircraft that looks as if it is going fast even when it is on the ground. Its performance reflects its appearance, for in 1980, it was one of the best performing private-owner aircraft on the market, with a cruising speed of 250 mph and a maximum speed of 275 mph. First flown in December 1966, the Beech Duke is distinguished by its jet-like lines, sharply swept fin and rudder, and long pointed nose. These sporty characteristics have helped to make the Beech Duke the ultimate personal owner-flown aircraft, with the same kind of attractions associated with owning a top of the range Ferrari sports car. These characteristics are easily seen with the top, front and side view of the plane illustrated here.
