Fritz Wegner: Aquila the Constellation Appearing just above the eastern horizon in late spring, Aquila flies across the heavens northwestward before setting in the western sky during late autumn. The Romans believed Aquila brought Jupiter nourishment and weapons when he was warring against Saturn, his father. Jupiter rewarded Aquila for his aid by exalting him. Aquila was placed prominently in the heavens to fly as Jupiter's messenger.
