Fritz Wegner: Auriga the Constellation Famous in all ages and among all people, Auriga -- the wagon driver -- is a large, northern constellation. In Greek lore it represented the serpent-footed Erechtheus, mythical first king of Athens, who invented the four-wheeled chariot to hide his serpent feet. Because of this invention, Zeus put him into the sky as a constellation after his death.
