Fritz Wegner: Cygnus the Constellation In mythology, Cygnus is said to represent the swan into which Zeus changed himself, while in pursuit of Leda, daughter of King Thestius of Aefolia and wife of Tyndareus, King of Sparta. Leda made love with the swan and later that same night, with her husband. From these unions, Leda laid an egg wihch contained Helen and Polydeuces.
