Kristin Rosenberg: Flowers of Turks and Caicos Islands The flowers of Turks and Caicos Islands form this floral bouquet, while the decorative ribbons represent their national colors. The deep green pointed leaves of the sub-tropical Oleander provide a beautiful setting for its soft pink flowers. The dependable perennial, Madagascar Periwinkle, thrives in the American tropics and also subsists in cooler climates. Practical as well as beautiful, this plant can be used as an excellent ground cover. The African Tulip tree is a tropical beauty aptly nicknamed "Flame of the Forest." The large, trumpet-shaped flowers blaze from the tops of these trees in brilliant patches of scarlet which contrast sharply with the dull greens of the jungle. Nearly thirty varieties of Flame Violets flourish in the moist shade of the tropics. A living link between the old world and the new, the Ladder fern thrives in tropical forests and European households.
