Kristin Rosenberg: Flowers of Barbados The flowers of Barbados form this floral bouquet, while the decorative ribbons represent Barbados' national colors. The fragrant, large Frangipani blossoms are used to decorate the hair of native boys and girls on festive occasions. Mexican Sunflower is a small, shrubby annual that can be found throughout Mexico and the West Indies. The color variations among the flowers of Nicotiana, the Tobacco plant, make this a garden favorite. There are very few tropical islands where the Hibiscus cannot be seen. The beautiful blossoms come in many colors and sizes. Petunias produce seeds profusely and these varied flowers cover large areas well. Certain hybrids of Verbena produce large clusters of flowers which range in color from red to yellow to blue. The large, arching leaves of the Palm make it an excellent houseplant.
