Gene Jarvis: Volcano Rabbit The Volcano Rabbit Romerolagus diazi is short-eared, brown-haired and is one of the smallest and perhaps most primitive of living rabbits, and is also one of the most endangered. These rare rabbits are found only on the slopes of the Mexican volcanos Popocateptl and Ixtacihuatl. Hunting and steady encroachment on its habitat threatens the existence of the Volcano Rabbit.
