Michael Garland: Monet with Mail in Garden
Claude Monet (1840-1926) was a French Impressionist painter. He is regarded as the archetypal Impressionist in that his devotion to the ideals of the movement was unwavering throughout his long career. He started out as a caricaturist but was then converted to landscape painting by his early mentor Boudin, from whom he derived his preference for painting outdoors. This painting was originally published on the Fleetwood® Mint Stamps of the World Collectors Panel for the France 3ffr The Letter stamps issued May 11, 1998.
